My family of 4 (2 adults, 20yo and 17yo) will be in Rome the week of Christmas (Dec 20-28). We plan to do some day trips, but will be home based in Rome. I searched the forums, but didn't see any recent posts on where to eat on Christmas Eve/Day. I did see that reservations need to be made, so figured I should start looking into it! Any suggestions on where to eat? The back up will be to have an Airbnb and get some things from the market, but it would be nice to have at least one meal out. And my kids don't eat fish, so that may be a limitation! Thanks!
Lots of restaurant will be open but yes, reservations as a very good idea especially for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day lunch. Katie Parla usually publishes a list here https://katieparla.com/city-guides/rome/ but you might look for her prior years’ postings as they should be quite reliable. The Ghetto has some fabulous options, BTW.
While Christmas Eve is traditionally fish-based, it is not exclusively so.
