Where to eat in the San Marco area

We are taking our 17 year old daughter to Venice for a few days and would love to have suggestions on where to eat. Your suggestions are appreciated.

We like Rosa Rossa on Calle Mandola, aka “the Johnny Depp place”. Apparently he named it his favorite bar and restaurant when he was filming there. And signed the ceiling.

Looks like it still gets good reviews.

As a general rule, we avoid canal side places to eat as they are usually overpriced and under quality. There is an exception, however. You might want to try Trattoria Da Giorgia ai Greci. It is very close to San Marco and an easy walk to get away from the crowds. A bit pricey, but most places in Venice are, and the food is really great. You should be able to get a look at the menu with a google search. And using Google Maps you can zero in on the location.

If you are in the Rialto Bridge area at lunch time, consider Trattoria Da Marco Valla Fava on Calle Stagneri. Some of the best sea food ever!! It is definitely pricy so lunch is much easier on the budget. Try to eat inside rather than outside. The place has been around at least 50 years so they must be doing it right.

I can second the recommendation on Rossopomodoro for teenagers (and adults). The pizza is delicious as are the salads. It is casual and reasonably priced.

We also enjoyed doing our own Cicchetti Crawl near the Rialto. Our favorites were Bar All Arco and Cantino do Mori. This is nice because you can eat as much or as little as you like.

Its a splurge, but the Caffe Florian, right on Piazza San Marco, is a memorable experience.

Check out Al Giardinetto da Severino (reviewed by RS). You can make reservations through the website called TheFork. And check out the gelato at Suso!

I'll third Rossopomodoro.

It has been a while (thanks covid) since my last visit at Seven Dials London. Good food good atmosphere. Fun for a 17 year old.

The Hard Rock Cafe isn't far from there either, but maybe wrong generation?
