We are staying 10 min outside of Siena for 4 nights. Will be daytripping to San Gimignano & Montepulciano by public transport. Will probably eat one dinner out in Sienna, and lunches out on the daytrips and then picnic or carryout @ hotel for dinner. Any favorite restaurants recs? We would like to avoid restaurants completely filled w/tourists, but some are ok. :)
Siena: La Finestra; Piazza Del Mercato 14 L Osteria; via dei Rossi 79 Osteria da Trombicche; via delle terme 66
Osteria Da Divo; via Franciosa 29 (close to Duomo) Haven't been to the other towns. Enjoy!
I can also vouch for the Antica Osteria Da Divo. A wonderful meal in a very unique environment if you want to splurge on a good meal in Siena. http://www.osteriadadivo.it/eng/chi-siamo.htm Buon appetito, my fellow northern Virginian!
Osteria Da Divo, sound good. Per RS Italy2011, E45 meal, is it a set dinner? You think I can do this for under E150 for two, total?
Thanks, appreciated.
In Montepulciano, Osteria del Conte serves an excellent lunch. I've eaten both lunches and dinners there, and have enjoyed every meal. Outside seating is nice, but eat inside for fewer tourists. If meat is your thing, Osteria dell'Aquachetta serves very good meat dishes but can be a bit touristy at times. No outside seating. Hard to find a place in San Gimignano that's not touristy. Had a nice lunch at Trattoria Chiribiri during my last visit.
