Where to eat in Florence and Perugia.

Hello, I'm going to Perugia and from there to Florence. Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and small food stores are must-visits.

As a chef, I look for places that locals love, like “behind the corner” little cafes and bakeries and so on.

In Perugia, I am planning to rent a car so I can also visit places that are in the Umbria region

As a chef, you will probably enjoy dining at Olio & Convivium Gastronomia Restaurant. It's on the Pitti Palace side of the river on Via di Santo Spirito. The web site is (or was) https://oliorestaurant.it/. A bit pricey at lunch and more so at dinner, but excellent food, good ambiance, and fine wine.

In Perugia two years ago, I remember us liking Al Mangiar Bene, Osteria Pappabona, and Osteria a Priori. My husband, more of a carnivore, liked Antica Porchetteria Granieri 1916.

Osteria La Pecora Nera in San Gemini

Terra & Arte in Narni (a deli with a tiny restaurant)

Labirinto Di Adriano in Orvieto (there are several really good restaurants in Orvieto, but this was our favorite during our 4 night stay)

In Gubbio, our two favorite restaurants are side by side: Orto Osteria dalla Terra and La Cresciamia.

The last time we were in Florence was 6 years ago, but on that trip we liked:

Osteria Antica Mescita --- Via di S. Niccolò, 60 r, San Niccolo

Ino --- Via del Georgofili 3, great panini ---we loved this place, fun and such excellent ingredients

Al Tranvai — Piazza Torquato Tasso, 14r, San Frediano

S.forno Panificio --- Via Santa Monaca, 3r

All'Antico Vinaio --- Via dei Neri, 74
