We will be driving from Tuscany and want to drop our car off in Rome. Would the airport or Termini be better? Or any other suggestions? We still plan to stay in Rome a few days, just don't want the car.
We had a car in Tuscany (very helpful for getting off the beaten track). I dropped it in Orvieto where we took the train the rest of the way to Rome. The car rental in Orvieto is literally right across the street from the train station. I would suggest that you consider that over driving anywhere in or around Rome.
Orvieto only has Hertz and I believe will only take manual cars
Chiusi is a good drop off location right on train line
Which rental car company? Different rental companies have various locations in Rome.
Roberto,
Picking up in La Spezia, at Hertz. We will be staying in Pienza, trying to avoid going to Chiusi and taking train to Rome. Says 45 minutes drive to Chuisi, then 2 1/2-3 hr train to Rome. Orvieto might be a good idea, or just dropping it off in Rome. Thanks for your advice, always much appreciated!
