where to drop off rental car?

If we get our rental car in Florence & tour southern Tuscany on our way to Amalfi Coast (Sorrento) where is the best place to drop off our car & then catch a train to Naples? Also is this the best choice vs returning the car to Florence & then proceeding to Naples? We don't want to back track if possible.

Orvieto because you'll have to train through Rome and Orvieto is a short ways north - and easy to drive into.

Chiusi is also a good option to drop off the car, depending on where you will be in Tuscany.
