Hi. Does anyone know if I could buy a suitcase in Positano? Thanks.
Could you elaborate a bit? Are you there now and yours broke? Did you just buy a lot and need to transport it home? Have you asked at your hotel?
I'd like to bring carry-on luggage only to Positano. I'm pretty confident I will need to buy another piece of luggage for the trip home. If I can't buy a suitcase I will check-in one piece of luggage, but I would rather not
I'm going in the middle of September. I haven't asked my bed and breakfast yet.
Thanks, Lisa.
Well I didn't see any stores selling luggage specifically but that doesn't mean that your B and B couldn't help you track some down. But I'm not sure you're really going to need to acquire new luggage. We went there in April as part of a 2 week trip - and we always travel with just carryon. Usually I acquire almost nothing when I travel but I did fall victim to both the shoe salesmen and the pottery stores in Positano and we managed with our existing luggage just fine. If you think you're buying something large like some of those tables or enormous bowls/serving platters, ask at the stores about transit...they were pretty helpful with shipping ideas.
I always bring a collapsible bag in my carry on. That way you can put your clothes in it, check it and use your suitcase for treasures to take on the plane with you.
What Gerri said -- take along a lightweight collapsible bag and use it if needed. Check in the soft bag full of dirty clothes, carry on your breakable souvenirs in your original suitcase.
I used the RS hideaway tote.
