Where to after Sienna?

We are planning a 20 day trip to Italy beginning the first week of June. We have 3 days in Rome... onto Cinque Terra for 6 days (staying in Corniglia), then onto Sienna for 5 days where will will bus to the various hills downs for days trips in Florence, as well as Umbria and Tuscany.
We still have the last 6 or so days to plan.
Shall we go to Pompeii, Parma area, Turin, Lake como?
Other great locations?
Shall we spend a couple of nights in Orvieto on the way back to Rome where we will catch our flight back home?

I absolutely love the amalfi coast....so much to do and see. Pompeii is incredible and the views from Sorrento are fabulous. Mount Vesuvius is a must do if you are able.

I would recommend that you remain in Siena. You will barely scratch the surface of Tuscany in 5 days. Using Siena as a base you can visit Montepulciano, Montalcino, Orvieto, San Gimignano, Florence, Greve, etc. Each of those is a day trip and Siena itself is a delight to visit. You might want to give yourself some time to relax and enjoy Sienese life.

If you feel you must move on, then perhaps Assisi from which you explore Umbria more thoroughly.

Can you give us some more information, please? How many people, ages, interests? And, have you been to Italy before? And where?
You'll find this forum will jump in with both feet to help you work through some wonderful possibilities! We all have our favorites. One of my favorite things about planning my trip each year is the planning itself. Maybe you could start with the list you've given us. What are your priorities? Why so much time in the Cinque Terre? Check out the train schedules from Siena to your potential sites - you may end up spending more time on the train than at your destination. Maybe that means changing hotels and spending a few nights so that you have more time to explore that area? But remember that each change of hotel is basically a half day (or more) off of your vacation. You say you have 6 days left to plan. Have you thought of Venice? Sorrento? More time in Rome with day trips to Pompeii, Ercolano or Ostia Antica (I'd pick one after doing some research)? You could do a day trip from Rome to Orvieto too.
Happy planning! And we're all glad to chime in!!!!
