i have seen many posts about the secret tour, but not sure what web site is the best to book.
i looked on google and there seemed to be many, so who would you suggest and who have you used before?

Reserve in person at the ticket office, or call +39-041-520-9070 (English option available) or ask your hotel to reserve for you. If you use an agency you will pay a fee for the service. Our hotel made the reservation for us.

Be sure to choose the English Tour...for only 16 Euro it's a great deal for entrance into the Doges Palace as well as a private guide.

You're right. The "real" sight is much cheaper. Amazing how Tour Companies can jack up the price and unknowing tourists actually PAY it!
