I'm planning to stay in Vieste for two nights. Does anyone know where Rick's tour groups stay there? If you were there, did you like it?
Per this thread, it's Hotel Seggio: Vieste
Lynette, RS tours often use different Hotels in each city, depending on availability for a group. AFAIK, the only Hotel they use in Vieste is Hotel Seggio as mentioned in the previous reply. Be sure to watch their video! I found the Hotel to be very comfortable, and the staff were great. Having a view of the ocean from my room was fantastic! Vieste is a beautiful city, and well worth a visit! One point to note - if you're driving, you won't be able to drive right to the Hotel. You'll have to park in the pay lot and walk. Happy travels!
Stayed at the Hotel Seggio last year on an RS tour and enjoyed it. The rooms were large and comfortable as were the bathrooms (a big plus after our hotel in Rome!). We had two meals, lunch and dinner, at the hotel and both were excellent. As they were included in the tour, don't know what the cost was. They also have some nice wines. Only thing to note was that the owner has a thing about food in the bedrooms and there are notices in four languages to that effect! We were also warned about the policy by our Guide so it is taken seriously. However, we had a party by the pool, they supplied antipasto and wine and no problems with bringing in food (chips etc.) for that - just be very, very discreet! Its a family run hotel and the sons and daughters and in-laws all seem to be involved as reception and wait staff. Do go to the produce market (up the main street at the top of the town). Fresh fruit, cheeses, olives etc. Just tasting the food (its expected), will provide you with a lunch.
Thanks! I watched the video and read about the Hotel Seggio on Trip Advisor. The reviews are just so-so, but they do have a room available. ALL of the other places I tried are totally booked for our dates in October already; the Hotel Portnuovo is closed by then! The only other choice is the Hotel Forte, which has free parking, but it's down on the water and the sea view rooms look over the parking lot. I don't plan to go swimming; I'd prefer to be convenient to town and I like the Seggio's views, but it's hard so hard to get an idea as to which one would be most convenient!
Lynette, Hotel Seggio is right in the centre of town, so it's a very convenient location. From the Hotel entrance, a brief walk through a few alleys leads to the main part of town. They also have a nice pool area. Even if you're not swimming, it's a great place to enjoy the sun. It seems unusual that a lot of places are already booked at the time you'll be there. I didn't realize it was that popular.
Thanks, I booked the Seggio! I read a review on Trip Advisor that mentioned the owner was quirky about food in the rooms...was that yours, Lesley?
