Alex, It will be difficult to determine where "the best Lasagna" is served in Italy, as what is "best" will often be determined by individual taste. I've found considerable differences in quality in various dishes in Italy, even with something as simple as Bruschetta. Each establishment seems to have slightly different recipes. During your time in Italy, perhaps you could do some "fact finding" and let all of us know where the best Lasagna is found. Cheers!

Ristorante Santa Cristina in Rome at Via della Cordonata - near Qurinale Palace. They have a white lasagna with gruyere cheese and onion that is heavenly.

The best lasagne I ever had was the Italian section of Nice. Best is always relative.

It was only really meant as a joke. Obviously taste is subjective. But in your opinion.

Be warned that in some parts of Italy, the word "lasagna" refers to a type of long, flat pasta, not the actual lasagna dish as we know it. You will also see it called "pasticcio" in certain areas as well. Best pasticcio I've ever had is made by my neighbor, she puts thin layers of proscuitto in it and it's amazing.

The best of nearly everything I've ever eaten in Florence, including lasagna, is at Ristorante La Galleria just over the Ponte Vecchio in the Oltrarno district. Rita and Pino and brother Francesco are awesome. Desserts are homemade and heavenly. Everything is absolutely just right (and between hubby and myself and innumerable trips over 15 years we've eaten just about everything on the menu). Our daughter, who generally doesn't eat lasagna on principle since it has ricotta cheese in it (she hates ricotta cheese)....LOVES Rita's lasagna.

Does Murano qualify as being "in Venice". On our little day trip to Murano we popped into a whole in the wall place along one of the canals. The lunch special was lasagna - and it was fabulous!

I have been traveling in Italy since the late 60's and have found that the best food is served at RV campgrounds. And the prices are very reasonable. The parks have stand alone restaurants. Of course these parks are usually near small towns, but in 9 out of 10 cases when I am driving though an area and stop to ask someone for the best restaurant around they point me toward the RV park. And I have never been disappointed.

In our 30 years of traveling in Italy we have discovered the Italian food in italy and here are two different things. I grew up in an Italian household, so I feel safe in making this comment. Someone above mentioned that lasagne is different in different places and that is true. My first plate of lasagne was in Calabria in my aunt's home. It contained slices of hard boiled egg, was very dry, and not saucy. It was delicious, but different. buon viaggio,
