Yesterday was our first day in venice but I have yet to find a water fountain to fill up our water bottles. We went to San Marco, Accademia and Salute yesterday but did not see any fountains. Are we just not looking in the right places? I know the area of St. Mark's Square does not have any according to Rick Steves.
Helen, Check out this post about the program and stop by that TI.

i was just in venice last week...i ran into about 20 of them all over the place...
You know that they don't look like American drinking fountains, right? They're basically just faucets next to the ornamental water fountains you find all over the place. All those faucets are safe to drink from unless they have a sign that says "Non Potabile".
