Have searched the Forum (all you totally awesome and brilliant people!!) but most responses are for travelers looking for the updated schedule for trains this summer. We need to book trains for September-October-November. What is the usual timing for when Trenitalia will post schedules for this fall? Grazie mille!
In mid June they release the schedule through mid December. They always do two schedule changes per year. Once the schedule is posted you will be able to book. They post the fastest trains first and then go on to the slower trains. You should start seeing the faster trains loading any time now. just keep checking the site.

The actual tickets go on sale about three months ahead of your travel date(s), so in the earlier part of June, you might have access to book some, but not all of your dates. However, these are e-tickets, with no per-order shipping fee, etc., so you can easily place a couple of different orders, if it's your intention to lock in most departure times.
All railway companies change their timetables on the second Sunday in December. Some, including the Italians, do a second smaller change in June. So as soon as they release the times, they will be for the 6 months up to December.
If you just want to do research on routes and times, lookup times for May, as they usually change only about 5-10% of the trains. It is not like flights where airlines can add or cancel flights at a few days notice. Trains run on tracks, which once built, stay unchanged for years on end.
Italy is one of a few countries that releases tickets 120 days in advance, not three months.
Thanks everyone!
