When will RST cancel my trip?

Does anyone know when tour cancellations for tours scheduled in April will be decided. I am on the Best of Europe in 21 Days Tour starting April 14.

Things are changing daily.
I am sure RS will notify you as soon as a decision is made.

Everyone from the airlines to B&Bs are dealing with unchartered territory. Most will try to make the best decision for everyone involved. And sometimes there is no "correct decision."

I agree with Frank on this one. It's a fluid and unprecedented situation. Everyone is doing the best they can with it.

”If you're currently booked on a April 1–April 30 tour with us that includes stops in Italy, and you're concerned about your travel, we can transfer you to a different 2020 tour. Contact Tour Sales and Service at 425-608-4217 to discuss your options.”

Of course Rick Steves Travels is a business, but I actually find it quite a loving business. I have a great deal of admiration for Rick and his key staff, who have kept his successful business focused on his original mission from decades ago, namely to help Americans (and some other English-speaking people) experience and learn about Europe and its culture, history, people, etc. beyond just its famous tourist sites. He has maintained this through his very good books, TV and Radio programs, wonderful tours, audio tours and interviews, his personal appearances, and this forum.
Given the current very challenging situation for everyone and every company in the travel industry, I think RST is doing very well, following the quickly developing situation, and doing their best to give those still ready to travel the maximum safe opportunity to do so, and to give those who feel the personal need to change their plans and not travel now, or not follow their current itinerary, the opportunity to do that. I’m sure the RST office staff is very stretched dealing with concerned clients, guides and hundreds of vendors, and surely there may be limits to the company’s ability to send out thousands and thousands of dollars of cash refunds. And again, the situation is changing day by day, in Italy, in other European countries, and in the US and Canada as well.
I’m confident they will be making announcements about April tours soon.

I did not contact the office. In the FAQ it states full refunds for canceled tours. I hope the tour is not canceled. I prefer to go OR get a refund. This is the only time I can travel. I have not purchased airline tickets, or anything else, so it is just the money for the tour. I can see how as a business RST would prefer to reschedule me on a different tour, but this will not work for me. If I did reschedule on another tour, would I get a refund for the difference? I should ad that I am grateful that in the event of tour cancelation refunds are being given. They didn't have to do that.

We are on the same tour, losing hope that we will be going. We have made several arrangements prior to the tour on the 14th that we will probably lose money on including a food tour, train tickets, airline tickets and tickets to several museums not included in the tour. We are considering doing a tour ourselves of Netherlands, Germany and France using a Eurail. Pass, we just also are wondering when we will find out if the tour is going.

I can't stress enough that calling the tour office is the only way to find out accurate information for your tour.

Before calling the office, I recommend that tour members first check the information at https://www.ricksteves.com/tours/coronavirus-faq.

If your tour is actually cancelled, you may hear from us by telephone before that web page is updated, since we of course are reaching out to each customer affected. However, the page will also be updated regularly, as the situation evolves.

You may need to refresh the page to see the latest information. As of today, we have cancelled Italy tours with start dates through April 12, 2020.
