When to start the "night walk" in Rome?

I was just reading Rick Steves' Rome book and in it he recommends the "Night walk in Rome", which includes Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps, the Pantheon, Campo di Fiori etc. This walk sounds sweet, but I am staying at a monastery where there is a 23:00 curfew.

There was no recommendation in the book on what time of day we should start the walk to be able to enjoy Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon after dark. Also, I am not clear on what is "after dark": what time does the sun normally set in August?

Is this walk even doable, considering our monaster stay, or should we keep it for our next visit?

Thanks,
Raji.

I guess it would depend on the season you'll be ther, but dusk should be a good time to start, 2-3 hours tops.

I think it is do able depending on travel time to the monastery. All of the sites can be covered in about 30 minutes or so of walking. I am guessing sun set is around 8:30. Total dark by 9 AM.
