When (if) to confirm?

Hello All, We made our trip reservations at the beginning of the year for a July trip. We are staying in mostly small places, and an agriturismo in Umbria. Credit card numbers were given and I have reservation confirmation emails. Do I need to confirm our reservations before we go? If so, should I do it now or just check with them a week before we go. Thanks everyone. This forum has been very helpful in planning our trip.

i would confirm at least two to four weeks out just in case. That way you may still have time if necessary. Usually it is fine but I always like to be certain

I always re-confirm my reservation about 6 weeks out. The reservation should be fine without further communication but if there is a problem I want to know ASAP, not when I show up on their doorstep.

I like the idea of saying you want to "re-confirm" your reservation. It helps avoid confusion, esp. if you're staying at the smaller places where their English might not be as good as places with a larger staff.

I don't think there is a need if you have already confirmations. But if it makes you feel better place a call a day or two before checking in.

I would confirm now, if I were you, esp. since you're staying in small places. There's no downside to it, and it will give you some peace of mind.

I usually confirm our reservations a few days prior to leaving and will do so for our July trip. I have found from past experiences that using the word "reconfirm" works better. I personally look at it as "confirming" the reservation but in the past that seemed to be confusing to the places we were going to stay in France and Italy. So now I "reconfirm" our reservations. Buon Viaggio!

Okay -- reconfirm it is! . . . sometime between now, and a couple of days before we go. Thanks again.
