Wheelchair travel

My wife and I will be in Rome for one day as part of a cruise itinerary and would like very much to see the Sistine Chapel. How can we best get there? She'll be using a very light weight wheelchair and we've gotten to some difficult places in the past (Pyramids). Any thoughts?

If she can go up a few steps you can take the train to the termini station from the port. Once at the termini I would suggest taking a cab to the front of the Vatican museums. There is a specific wheel chair route that makes it easier to see the museums. You can book your tickets ahead of time from the Vatican website. http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do If it's just the two of you. you won't need to book tickets.. Just go to the door and they will let you inside. Donna
