Hi all in Rome are there public restrooms available that are wheelchair accessible? Thank you
Know that most bathrooms in the historic center are nit wheelchair accessible. Many are up at least a few stairs. And many others are down a full flight of stairs. I’ve been surprised to find bathrooms in the basement of businesses that have a handicap sign and grab bars. Can the wheelchair user do any stairs?
Bathrooms in nicer hotels are often accessible.
My wife can stand and perhaps walk a few steps holding my shoulders. But maybe 2-3 steps. I’m going to higher a guide early in the trip hopefully they can advise. Ty
Many coffee bars have bathrooms that only have a step or two. We have been pleasantly impressed by hiw many bar managers/staff are very understanding and helpfuk.every neighborhood in Rome has many coffee shops or bars.
Have you checked with where you’ll be lodging about their accessibility? Many hotel elevators are up several stadirs.
Check out the site curbfreewithcorylee for a Rome itinerary for wheelchair users. That’s just one of many sites that you should consult before traveling anywhere in Europe.
