Hello, I'm a wheelchair user without possibility of walking, on the end of August I will be traveling to Italy and need some hotels that are located in the Calalzo di Catore place or somewhere around that location. What I mean wheelchair accessible is where bathrooms have bars around the toilet and if possible walk-in-shower ( some shower chair ). If anyone have been traveling in the Dolomites and have seen ( experienced ) such hotels please let me know. I would really appriciate it. My budget is $150-250 per night.
Have you tried looking at booking.com? They have a filter for wheelchair accessible hotels/rooms.
Yes, I did. I found one close to Riva del Garda lake using booking.com but in mountains it is a little tricky
Calalzo di Cadore is pretty far from Garda lake!
A first website to check is the one of the Dolomiti bellunesi: https://www.visitdolomitibellunesi.com/it/organizza-la-tua-vacanza/dove-dormire?DT_=DT_ACCESSIBILE_DISABILI
Another resource is the website of Tourist Office of Trentino: https://www.visittrentino.info/en/articles/practical-info/faq-accessible-holidays-trentino . You can send them an e-mail: they should have a list of certified hotels.
Is instead a little easier for Sud Tirol because they have created a website where you can filter the hotels with accessibility: https://www.suedtirol.info/it/it/alloggi/alloggi-senza-barriere
Thank you Ricky, I will definitely check those web sites.
I also use a wheelchair and have learned that Italy can be challenging. In Rome, many wheelchair accessible bathrooms are in the basement! Also, Booking.com lists accessible hotels that may have elevators, but the elevator starts after a flight of stairs. I always write to any promising hotels to be sure thet truly are accessible.
