WHEEL CHAIR AT HERCULANEUM

Wheel chair access is out at Pompeii, but what about at the Herculaneum?

I don't know how you would be able to use a wheel chair in Herculaneum. The streets and sidewalks are so uneven that I can't even imagine trying to push it. Donna

Donn, there are several websites for people with disabilities who travel in Europe. Rick Steves also wrote an article on this, with several websites mentioned. I googled "wheelchair accessible travel Europe" (you've probably already done this). Most sites agree that Herculaneum is more difficult to navigate than Pompeii, which has begun a process of increasing accessibility. Every year more hotels and websites make accessibility easier, but unfortunately, smaller properties and many archaeological sites/museums haven't been able to update their facilities. Several train stations have built ramps in the last couple of years as well. I hope you'll let us know what you find out.
