My husband and arrive in Florence from Ravenna about noon on a Sunday in late September. We are going to San Gimignano (SG) to begin a 4 day walk that ends in Siena. We then return to Florence for a week. I know we can take a bus / taxi from the rail station to SG. But I keep asking myself,"what else could we do besides going directly to SG?" For instance, where could we go for Sunday lunch in a town we won't be visiting? Should we consider hiring a driver and going to Lucca for the afternoon then on to SG? We are not interested in wine tours. So what would you do to enjoy a Sunday afternoon on your way to SG?
Wild and off the wall ideas are okay ....
Thanks
Julie
