What will be covered by the Friends of Uffizi after March 31, 2015

Because of unusual travel plans where I will be in Florence for one day trip with one group of folks and then four days 10 days later with another group of friends I was considering the Friends of Uffizi card rather than the Firenza card for the second visit.

In 2014 it would have allowed me multiple visits to the sites I want to see. The info on line just says that the list of museums is valid till March 31st and does not give other information.

Also another source says that even with reservations without the Firenza card line waiting is still an issue as the card has priority and there is a line to pick up reserved tickets. Especially on the one day trip it will be foolish to waste any time in line to see things like David that my friends on the second trip will definitely want to see.

Any advice or insight is welcome. Gerri A

Hi Gerri -
We used the Amici degli Uffiz card a few years back and it worked very well for us: wouldn't hesitate to buy one again should we have the time to use one. Yes, it allows as many visits to the attractions listed as you can fit in: a bonus where the Uffizi itself is concerned! It would be especially nice for you as you're visiting the city more than once within the life of the pass.

We decided against the Firenze card as the Uffizi covered most of what we wanted to see, we didn't want to have to cram it all into 72 hours (we had 5 days), and we wanted the option of returning to some of the larger attractions. We also weren't interested in the transport piece of Firenze card: central Florence is a very walkable, IMHO.

If course you have to do the math against your own to-do list but it ended up saving us some $ as well, even paying separately for Santa Croce (not covered on the Uffizi card): € 100 for a family pass that covered both of us versus €144 for 2 Firenze passes

I'd be surprised if there were many changes to the attractions list after the end of March but the site includes a website and phone number for contact: you would mail them with the question?

Does this help?

The line to pick up reserved tickets should be shorter than other lines, not a significant delay. Many web sites just don't publish any news until it's finalized. Friends of Uffizi may just be reserving their opportunity to make changes after March, even if they don't yet know what they will be. Each museum covered may need to agree to a contract renewal.
