What Village in Cinque Terre should I Stay?

Hello All, My husband and I are arriving in Cinque Terre on 3/15/13 and will be staying there foe 4 nights. Which village should I stay in and why? Also, any suggestions for a resonably priced hotel ($125-$170 per night) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

joy, For travel in the Cinque Terre in early March, your accommodatin options may be a bit limited as the area doesn't "officially" open for the season until April 1st. Your best bet would probably be to try the hotels in Monterosso. It's the largest of the five towns, and therefore has the greatest number of hotels, restaurants, etc. (and likely some of which will be open). The following website provides a list of the hotels in Monterosso: http://www.rebuildmonterosso.com/p/visitors-information.html I have to go out in a few minutes, but will try and provide some further suggestions later. Happy travels!

Do you have the Rick Steves Italy book? He specifically answers exactly those questions in the Cinque Terre section.

joy, A few additional comments..... Many of the lodgings in the Cinque Terre are small room rentals or B&B's. Monterosso has the greatest number of more "conventional" hotels. I don't know specifically which places will be open in Monterosso in March, so you'll have to try contacting a few of them by E-mail. Another good possibility would be La Torretta in Manarola, as I believe they will be open in March. It's somewhat "pricey" but I'm sure you'd have an exceptional stay if your budget will allow. Their least expensive room is normally €170 per night. However, as it turns out they have a special offer for 15/16 March. According to their website: "Exceptional discount of 30% off the list price, including a bottle of local wine, fresh fruit and canapés on arrival in the room.
Offer not combinable with other offers, subject to availability! Valid only for two nights on 15 and 16 March 2013." If you're interested, I would suggest BOOKING SOON! If you're planning to hike any of the Sentiero Azzurro trails, AFAIK they're still closed, but that could change any day. Cheers!

If La Torretta has rooms available, I would jump on that discount offer. We spent two nights there and wished we had booked longer. The rooms are lovely, and we were very happy to be in Mararola.
