What to wear in Italy, including packing lists

If you are looking for info on what to wear in Italy (and other places) you might find this link useful. I only just "discovered" it.

As with anything like this, it's not for copying but rather for inspiration. All seasons are included, as are packing lists. The orientation is toward packing light for younger women, but it's the number and kinds of garments that are the key.

Lo-
I have the site bookmarked on my computer - the clothing capsules really help ! Though, I agree, they are definitely oriented towards my daughters' ages, but the idea is the same !

Thanks Lo. Helpful site and now bookmarked.
We're all young at heart so why not look young(er). I just need to hide the crepe-y skin -- oooo not a pretty thought. How about if I say I need sun protection because I had melanoma -- you know how brutal Arizona sun can be.

The link appears to be only for women.

Clearly what to wear depends on what time of the year. If going to Italy during the warm to hot months, I would recommend against taking blue jeans. They are heavy and take up more space and they are too hot for hot weather.

I like kakis.

North Americans that are touring in Europe frequently wear tennis or walking shoes instead of hard soled shoes. Some Europeans once said they could pick out the Americans because they wear athletic shoes. I have noticed that more Europeans on tour wear athletic shoes as well.

I have found walking shoes to be much more comfortable if walking a lot, than hard soled shoes.

As a general rule, I don't wear T-shirts when touring, unless I am at the beach and I rarely go to the beach in Europe.

I did like her link to comfortable walking shoes. All the usual suspects are listed there, along with some I hadn't seen before.

I have to disagree with the common wisdom about jeans. I wear them in all seasons here in Tucson and have since I was a kid in humid unairconditioned Texas. My new favorites are Slim-Sation Classic Fit Straight Leg Jeans. They are soooo comfortable and they totally cover my ugly legs.

I do not wear jeans in the summer in Italy or North Carolina. Too hot for me.

I'm taking Spanx leggings. Pack light and little, heavy enough to hold the leg/butt jiggles, super comfortable, quick dry.
