What to Wear in Giardini Naxos and Palermo in April

We are traveling to both Giardini Naxos and Palermo the end of April through the first week in May. In browsing weather apps it looks like the temps will be in the low to mid-70's. Many of you are experienced travelers and probably know the weather there better than the apps is why I am asking how to dress. We will definitely be bringing comfortable walking shoes but I'm wondering if you think it will be too cool for to wear cropped pants and sandals. Is layering the best for this season?

Also, has anyone recently traveled there in March 2026 experienced delays or have any tips for traveling right now? We are flying into Catania and out of Palermo.

Thanks in advance.

I think cropped pants and sandals would be perfect. Maybe a light cotton jacket for nighttime....it's a great time to be in that part of Italy.

Our buddies from various RS tours would probably tell you to bring some layers, just in case. A few years ago they froze on their Best of Sicily tour in April. No one can say for certain what the weather will be so taking a warm layer is just insurance even if you don’t need it.

I was in Sicily in May and hit unusual cold rainy weather. I had packed for 60s, 70s, and 80s and had 50s, 60s, and 70s. I only had capris and ankle pants and was very sorry. Take one pair of long pants, a sweater or light jacket, and a rain coat. I had brought a long sleeve layering shirt for when we went to mt Etna which I was very glad of.

mid-70s in April?

Not really! Not unless you get an unusually warmer than average spell

Mid/High 60s will be more likely for the best part of the day. And probably high 50s at night.

So be ready to dress like you would to feel comfortable with temperatures in the 60s. Then if it happens to be unusually warm, take off the extra layer.

Early May won't be much warmer.

Check the forecast the day before you leave for the 10 days after your day of departure

We were there in April 2 years ago and for the most part I found Sicily to be fairly warm. I wore a pair of light linen pants and a sleeveless top for many afternoons. It was cooler at night and we had some rain in Palermo and did need a raincoat then. Of course I'm not sure that I'm a good barometer, as it is much warmer then my climate for April
