My friend and I are going to the Teatro la fenice around the middle of March. Can anyone tell me what types of things women tend to wear? How formal do we need to go?
Hi, I took the tour of the opera house in Sept. I could of gotten tickets for an afternoon performance, but did not want to miss a beautiful day in Venice. The performance was something very obscure. I would have liked to go to the evening performance, but it was sold out. I saw people lined up dressed all different ways for the afternoon perfomance. If you are going at night I think it would be fun to dress up and have a pre-dinner at one of the restaurants surrounding that sqaure and then make your "grand entrance". If you have a chance, take the behind the scenes tour. I got to sit in a few different seat and boxes and experience what it would be like if I was a special visitor. I skipped taking the Audio/earphone tour because I wanted to see more of Venice that day; but, everyone else was very absorbed in listening and following the tour. I forget how many time La Fenice has been rebuilt. I love going to concerts and operas and watch people dress up. Have fun!
