What to do with rental car while in Naples?

My husband and I will be spending 3 weeks in Italy, 8 days of which we will have a rental car. For 3 days, we'll be in the Amalfi Coast area, staying in Ravello and exploring the coast, Pompeii, Paestum and Naples. Our initial plan was this:

Day 1: Pompeii/Paestum
Day 2: Explore the coast
Day 3: Explore Naples than travel on to our accommodations in Chiusi

However, we know we don't want to drive in Naples and have no idea what to do with the rental car while we explore the city if we stick with this plan. We've considered rearranging our plans and taking a train from Salerno into Naples on day 2, even though it means we'll be adding travel time to Day 3 and leaving for Chiusi from father south than we would if we left from Naples. Ideally, though, we'd rather explore Naples than drive onto Chiusi on the 3rd day because it makes more sense from a time and gas stand point.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with the car if we drive to Naples? Any safe parking lots or nearby places to park the car and take a bus in? Is it just foolish to take a car near Naples at all? My husband is fairly paranoid about vandalism if we take the car near the city. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

I would do everything different.
Day one: drive along the coast, visit Positano and Amalfi.
Day two: boat trip from Positano or from Sorrento t Capri island.
Day three: leave in the morning, stop in Pompeii for 4 hours or so, then at the end of the visit drive to Chiusi (about 4+ hours)
Leave Naples and Paestum to the next visit, you don't have enough time for everything in just 2.5 days.
If you insist on Naples at all costs, there is a huge parking structure run by the city on Viale Volta at the corner with Via Brin. From there you can take a bus or taxi to the center (or take a long walk)

Pompeii and Paestum are in opposite directions from Ravello (great choice). I would go to Paestum one day and Pompeii the next. Each can be seen in less than a full day, but the backtrack driving will add time to your day. I don't know about parking in Naples but I trust Roberto's info.

Thanks! We really only want to do the Amalfi coast drive, explore Ravello a bit and possibly check out Positano as far as the Amalfi Coast goes-no interest in Amalfi or Capri, but lots of interest in Naples. We'll check out the parking structure-thanks!

The Carpark is called "Parcheggio Brin" it's run by the ANM, the City Bus Agency in Naples. It's a commuter carpark. Commuters park there and proceed to the city center by bus. The bus stop is in front and it will take you right on the city center. There is also a taxi stand in front if you want to take a taxi. It's a couple of miles to Piazza Plebiscito, so you could also walk, but it's a long walk. Make sure you don't keep valuables in plain view inside the car. The car park is guarded and has surveillance cameras, but you are in Naples.
