We are a 60-ish couple with an extra week after our “Italy My Way” tour ends in Rome this June. What should we do? Cooking school/wine touring in Tuscany? Amalfi Coast? More time in Rome and day tripping? Cruise to Greek Islands? This is the first trip to Italy for my husband. I saw all the “usual sights” as a teenager on a six week student tour of Europe.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Easy choice stay in Italy and see nrby Tuscany and Assisi. Wonderful hilltop villages, countryside is gorgeous, food and wine terrific. Relax enjoy and go village hopping. Lucky u to have an xtra wk in Italy.
Where are you going on the tour? I never did a tour so this is why I am asking. Hard to recommend other places if I don't know where you have been already.
My vote would be Amalfi coast. If you stay in Sorrento you will have easy access to everything the area offers.
Go to Sorrento and came back and spend an extra day or two in Rome before flying home. ( Assuming you are flying out of Rome)
Italy in late June will be hot and crowded, even (especially?) the Amalfi Coast. Maybe a couple-three nights in Orvieto, then there are tons of things to see and do in Rome: day trip to Hadrian's Villa and Villa d/Este, day trip to ancient Ostia Antica and the beach there, walking tours, food tours. The tour is 13 nights of short stays, so you may want to slow it down for the last week, especially considering the heat. Or fly to somewhere cooler . . . Dublin, Edinburgh, Berlin, STockholm . . .
I hope you are planning to spend a day or two in Venice pre-tour.
Relax and unwind before traveling home with a cooking class in Lucca. Base there for the week and you can travel to surrounding villages.
It would be best to leave it open and go back to places from your tour that you want to see more of. Your tour guide will give you lots of recommendations, but I guess that leaves difficulty for getting accommodations. We did a different tour but added the Amalfi Coast on our own and returned to Florence for a few days and Rome for a couple. All great choices; most things in Italy are a safe bet.
