What to do/see Rome Oct 13

Oct 11-21
We have arrive Oct 11th early morning and plan on doing RS Heart of Rome Walk stopping at The Pantheon. We have tours/guides/tickets booked ( 12th, 14th) for the Colosseum, Vatican, Borghese Gallery, So far for the 13th we do not have anything planned. We depart via train early morning on 15th to Naples. We are staying in Sorrento and have guides/drivers booked (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mt Vesuvius, Paestum, Almafi Coast, Capri and Naples).

Should we book something ( day trip) for the 13th or just spend the day wondering and exploring more of Rome?

One suggestion is Ostia Antica which can be done via public transport.

As mentioned, Ostia Antica is a logical option, but going on to see Pompeii and Herculaneum gets to be a lot of ruins.

Maybe consider taking the train to Orvieto, neat smaller hill town in Umbria, wander the streets for the day, have lunch, see the cathedral there, maybe some Etruscan sights, and head back to Rome.

Meander. Soak in the reality of Rome. Get lost looking a for a cafe to have an expresso or a panini.
People watch. Picnic in a park. Walk into a church.
Stroll along the Tiber.

I agree with Claudia. Just take a day to BE in Rome. Stop into little shops. People watch.

You are doing a lot. I would use the 13th as a meandering day. Sometimes these sorts of days are just what the doctor ordered! (Enjoy the Borghese - it is terrific!)
