We have one day left in Rome. We have seen all the big things (that we could get tickets to). We’re going to spend the morning tomorrow packing and souvenir shopping. Any suggestions for fun things that we shouldn’t miss in Rome to do in the afternoon?
Did you do some of the suggestions on your previous thread?
Biking on the Appian Way.
Go out to Tivoli Gardens to see the beautiful fountains.
Capuchin Crypts
Some of my favorite time in Rome has simply been wandering without a plan. Going up and down into little side streets, discovering little visited sites and wandering into small decrepit looking churches only to find some artistic masterpiece. Spotting a small trattoria with few tourists in sight and enjoying a wonderful meal. Sometimes these little excursions have brought me to some genuine jewels seldom seen by tourists keen on hitting all the “must see” destinations. There is so much in Rome that you can never go wrong by just exploring! Be open to the unexpected.
Yes, I have occasionally gotten lost, but even that has proven enjoyable and again leading me to something fascinating that I would never have seen otherwise.
So my advice? Just wander aimlessly, enjoying the wonders of this great city.
Actually, JimD’s post above is exactly what I would do if this were my trip. We have been to Rome many times and wandering around different neighborhoods is our favorite activity!
Yes, we're with JimD as well. Relax, take your time, soak it all in. A beautiful way to end your trip.
