What to do in Sorrento in the rain?

Please help me with some suggestions. We are leaving tomorrow from Florence to Sorrento where we will be staying for a week. (Four adults, three of whom are avid photographers). I had a list of things to do (Pompeii, Capri, Amalfi coast...), but the forecast is for rain all week!!! Any ideas for things we can do despite the rain? We WILL go to Pompeii rain or shine.... Thanks so much!

Our own Cliff Mass says that any forecast more than three days in the future is just marketing. So don't despair.

Do what we do in the Pacific Northwest, break out a rain jacket, walk and enjoy! Sorrento and area is lovely. Go out to Paestum a beautiful Greek/Roman site - 3 superb Greek temples offer ample opportunity for photography and the Museum there is well worth a visit. Also try and visit Herculaneum - I think it is a more interesting site than Pompeii and it is somewhat more sheltered and offers many more covered buildings to explore than Pompeii.

When we were in Italy 2 years ago, it was just pouring down in Assisi, where we were to stay 2 nights. Instead of dealing with the intense rain, we took a side trip to Orvieto, where the skies were blue as can be. So, maybe think of a side trip? Or hang out in a museum?

Visit the National Archeology Museum in Naples, where all the goodies from Herculaneum, Pompeii, et al, are displayed. I spent my day at Herculaneum mostly in the rain and enjoyed it anyway. They wrap the audio guide in plastic so you can use it. The only real challenge was keeping the camera lens dry for photos.

Dainne, PT has rain too! Do the same thing you would do at home:, bundle up and just go out...and explore. Buy some cheap umbrellas. The museum in Naples is a must! We loved Herculaneum...felt that Pompeii was too big an barren. Spend some time at the restaurants down on the waterfront.............they are just so much fun. A Polish friend of mine taught me a bad habit; order a cup of coffee...and a glass of red table wine. Drink some of the coffee, and dump the red wine in the rest of the coffee. Can't tell you how many times I used this to warm me up after a cold day on the ski slopes! Just d go out and have fun!
