What to do in Rome on Ferragosto?

We will be in Rome for 2 days August 14th & 15th before a cruise. Ferragosto, or Assumption Day, is an Italian national holiday celebrated on August 15 and I know many sites are closed. Any ideas what to do that day? We have been to Rome before and have been to the Coliseum, Forum, Pantheon. We have scheduled early bird Vatican Tour for August 16 but wondering what to do on the 14th & 15th. Thanks in advance.

Farragosto is like any Sunday or holiday in August. Most Romans will be at the beach and most businesses outside the historical center will be closed. However in the historical centre most things will be open to cater to the foreign tourists. Basically there will be mostly non Italians in town but you can do anything you would any other Sunday. Museums however will be closed for the most part. Check online for some you might be interested. Or head to the beach. You'll find plenty of people there.

We booked an evening walking tour with Through Eternity on the evening of August 15th. Thought that would be a fun activity.
