What to do with 3-4 days between Milan and Lake Maggiore

We arrive Milan on June 5th late in the day. Assume we will stay an an airport hotel. Meeting friends the next day (mid-day). We are going to Lake Maggiore on Wednesday, June 10th (for 3 nights - thank you Roberto for your suggestions). The rest of our trip is planned and scheduled. So, now we are looking at 3 or so days trying to decide what to do. Part of our tour is a food and wine trip through Piedmonte (6 days) . We are also going to Valle 'd Aosta for two nights. We know we will spend 1 or 2 days in Milan before heading home. We've all been to Rome and Florence and spent a week in Tuscany last trip. Suggestions as to how to spend those 3+ days. Cinque Terra, Turin, anything we've not thought of?

Thanks in advance for all your help. Thanks also to whoever posted the wonderful NOVA video of the Duomo in Florence. Again, thank you Roberto for your insight and comments. Although we won't get to Florence this trip, it was a good addition to our memories of our last trip.

I did enjoy a couple of days in Turin in 2013. In-city transportation by bus and tram is well organized and the car museum and Egyptian museum both excellent, among other attractions. Great views from any high spot on a clear day.

I agree. Turin. Sadly overlooked by many people on this site. Excellent museums, great food, lovely city centre.
