What to do and see in Italy? Good Website

How many times do people post "what to do?" and "what to see?" in Italy? That is not a criticism but hopefully this will help people with their trip planning.

While researching my September trip to Northern Italy I found this website https://www.italybyevents.com/en It covers much of Italy and allows search by region, location (city), month for lists of things to do and see. There are links to the events' and sights' websites for more information; it does not appear to be a third party booking site. It does not include the major sights but focuses on the smaller events and sights.

Enjoy your adventure! Buon Viaggio!!

Thanks for posting. It looks promising and well done. Hopefully they'll somehow avoid the commercial faux-festivals that clog other event websites.

It looks cool and the concept is interesting, but when I checked Venice for April (when I’m planning to visit next), it showed only five entries, 3 of which are permanent museums and venues. The Venice-dedicated page also doesn't link to specific things to do. Maybe I didn't quite get how the website works, but it feels a bit sparse for such a major tourist hotspot...

When traveling particularly to Venice, the digital resource I always recommend for answering those 2 questions ("what to see/to do?") is CityScrolls’ index of 100+ things to do in Venice: https://www.cityscrolls.com/venice/ and for practical travel tips Maddy's https://www.venicetraveltips.com/

Dan and Mike, yes the site looks interesting albeit a little sparse. But instead of the major sights that everyone wants to see on their first visit and are easily booked, it offers alternatives. Example: I’m looking for seat reservations for Asti Palio and it gives me an email address and phone number to Asti municipality. From what I saw there are, thankfully, no links to third party consolidators, eg Viator or Get Your Guide.
Italy by Events is just one more tool in the planning basket. Just like guide books, this website & forum and pinpointing sights in Google Maps.

An interesting start. I found some niche stuff I didn't know about and I've done some deeper dive research in these things already. They seem to be building up from "things you may have missed in more outlying areas" which is interesting.

Of course, the problem is that an "Italy" site will usually be beat out by town or specific region events sites, but everything needs to start somewhere and starting from the non-obvious is way more interesting than yet another copycat "Top 10 sites in Italy" approach.

My $.02,

I agree with both of you, and one possible idea for the platform could be to branch out and include local resources for travelers looking to go deeper. I personally appreciate it when people recommend a variety of good tools for trip planning, especially since travel styles vary so much and there's no one-size-fits-all solution.
