What time to be on Leonardo Express on a Train strike day?

Hi everyone, I am back in Rome after two weeks in Puglia and already missing it! : ( It was everything I was hoping & more!

Tomorrow at 12:45 I have a flight to Palermo. I’m staying near Roma Termini tonight and wanting to confirm with those in the know:

  • Will the Leonardo Express will be running during a train strike day?

  • I always want to be at the airport very early, just in case of any. flubs going the right direction. I have my boarding pass for the. ITA. flight to Palermo. What time should I be on the Leonardo Express in the morning?

Thanks!

As a backup, there are numerous buses from Termini to FCO, yes?

Hi Jean
I don’t know how early you want to get to the airport but I’d probably take the 9:35 or 9:50 Leonardo Express train and you’ll arrive at the airport 32 minutes later (10:07 or 10:22)

I just checked Trenitalia and there are Leonardo Express trains running tomorrow (5/17/24)

Whenever train strikes may affect my travel plans, I always ask a ticket agent at the departing train station to find out if my train will be affected/canceled, and if so, what other options are available.

Will you be returning back to Rome to fly home?

Enjoy your time in beautiful Palermo!
Make sure you visit the Palatine Chapel and the Monreale Cathedral!

Hello again,
I’ve been searching the trenitalia website, and the airport website, for more information.

I found this on the Rome’s Airport website;
adr.it:

Leonardo express è garantito anche in caso di sciopero.

Leonardo express is guaranteed even in the event of a strike.

I know I’d read this information previously but didn’t remember where.

Please give us an update once you get to the airport.

Safe travels! ✈️

Thanks so much, Priscilla! I had read it once that they are guaranteed, but didn’t know if it was fact or someone’s thoughts. I really appreciate you checking it out!

I am looking forward to being in Palermo - something completely different that I had time during this trip to go see. : )

I’m at the airport and all was running fine to get airport passengers there from Roma Termini by the Leonardo Express. The ticket machines were empty, but I just bought mine with the Trenitalia App & “checked in” for validation since it’s so easy to use the app for both steps!

I’ve even had extra time for a nice lunch here & to play a nice piece of music on the grand piano here.

It’s good to hear that everything worked out & you made it to the airport, and… you even had time to share your wonderful talent of playing the piano!

Hope you’re enjoying your visit in Palermo!

Are you planning to visit Cefalù?

I’m leaning more towards going to Monreale than Cefalu right now for my last day that doesn’t have any reservations.

I’m here five nights.
