What time do we give an airport transfer to pick us up at Milan's MXP airport, arriving from JFK?

We are an older couple that needs the airport transfer to be as easy as possible as this is our first time traveling without a group so we didn't want to arrive without a transfer pre arranged. We've looked at several sites on line and they all ask for pick up time and we want to make sure we give enough time to get thru customs , baggage, etc. Some sites also ask for flight information. Any suggestions?? Thanks!! And to add , we are coming from the US /JFK overnight flight. We will be headed to the Hotel AC Sesto in central area of Milan. This will be in early October of this year.

I would not use any company that does. NOT take the flight number so they can monitor for delays, etc. I think providing arrival time only should allow them to choose the time buffer they find appropriate since they likely pick up there all the time. Exit time can vary widely but I think 45 minutes after arrival time is a safe bet to allow for deplaning and baggage pickup.
Tell us where you are headed and maybe we can provide extra reassurance.

Additional important question is whether you are connecting from another gateway city
in Europe or flying from the US directly into MXP.

If you have cleared immigration/EES in a different city before arriving in Milan, then
baggage claim and exit will be straightforward. But if your first entry into Schengen
is Milan, then you will need to register (if you have not done so previously) into the
EES system, or wait in a manual line. Many threads in the forum on this, but bottom
line, your exit time will be much more variable.

Any reputable service will know the situation and account for it. Best to ask how long
they will wait in the event of delays exiting the terminal.

Thanks for these replies, very helpful. We are coming from JFK and going to a hotel in Milan, AC Sesto/Marriott. I guess we also need to see about registering , if possible, for EES, if we can. We do have Global Entry but that's also new to us so I need to do more it seems.

The hotel may be able to arrange transfer and at a special rate. That has been my experience

Global Entry is for when you return to the US.

You cannot “register” for EES ahead of time
Just have to do it on arrival

As above Global Entry is useless in Europe

Any reputable driver/pick up will take your flight number and monitor your arrival
I would put pick up time at about an hour past scheduled arrival
The driver should offer at least another hour waiting time

We have had great service from WelcomePickups.Com
The driver will communicate with you thru their app
