What specific neighborhood to stay in Florence?

When staying in Florence, what area/neighborhood makes the most sense to stay in....considering we HAVE to be within a ten minute walk from everything important?

And when I say "important", I am thinking of the Santa Maria del Fiore, as well as luxury shopping.

So....considering these aren't the only "landmarks" that are considered "important" or historical in Florence, when looking for a hotel, where should I center my search?

FYI--I don't care about having a direct view of the Arno, btw.

Draw a circle of about 500 to 700 meters with the center where you want it to be, then search a hotel inside that circle using Booking.com or similar website. You can use the tool below.

PS: luxury shopping is almost all on Via Dei Tornabuoni (Gucci, Ferragamo, etc.) and with some on via Calzaiuoli. Therefore a good place to place the center of your circle is on Piazza della Repubblica. If you like luxury the 5 star Savoy Hotel, or the slightly cheaper 4 star Hotel Brunelleschi are perfectly located.

My last few visits to Florence, I have stayed at RoomMate Isabella. It’s is a 10 minute walk from the train station. The hotel is above Gucci and on Via de’ Tornabuoni. You will find luxury shopping in and around this area. Ponte Vecchio, Il Duomo and top sites are all within walking distance.
The hotel has a wonderful staff, great street views of Palazzo Strozzi and a great brunch.
Good luck and enjoy Florence.

The Croce Di Malta is an excellent hotel, one of the few with a swimming pool in the historical center (very useful if going in summer). It’s a short walk from Via Tornabuoni, but it’s a bit of the walk from important sights like the Uffizi or the Accademia (David), in case those places are of any interest to you. If you are going to Florence to shop luxury goods only, then via Tornabuoni is where you need to be.
