What's it like to rent a villa on the Amalfi coast.

Hi All, I am considering renting a villa on the Amalfi coast with my family this May. As lovely and enticing as they seem, I am wondering about how difficult it is to get to and fro the villa considering all the steps? How does one get luggage belongings etc up and down the sometimes 70+ steps?? How difficult is it to get to the town and the beach?? I'm in good shape but I am over 60. Do want the steps to limit my activity. If you have rented or stayed on the Amalfi coast can you tell me what the challenges where?

You don’t specify which town you want to stay in so it is impossible to answer how difficult it is to get to town and the beach. However, in my experience which includes many trips to the AC, there are always lots of steps everywhere which we do feel more after 60, and generally you must carry your own luggage.

I stayed at a villa in Termini this summer, between Massa Lubrense and Sant’Agata / Nerano. It had off street parking but still had a few dozen stairs through the garden and to the main door. It was magnificent, with an unobstructed view of Capri, many beautiful terraces, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The drive down the cliff to get there was hair-raising, as were all subsequent drives down to Nerano, into Sorrento etc. But we did manage to avoid most stairs, as we had several 90+ year olds with us. So pick your poison - driving or walking - it’s a challenging but beautiful area. I am over 60 and didn’t have too much trouble. My cousins, same ages, did have trouble. Conditioning matters.
