What's going on in Rome end of September??

Hello folks, we're on a tour starting 10/2 and our tour hotel along with other hotels are at capacity the weekend prior (9/29-9/30). Is there something going on in Rome that weekend? No idea where to stay now. Wanted to get in a couple days prior to start of tour to offset jet lag.

Thanks in advance for any info...
ciao

I always recommend The Beehive - it's a hostel/hotel in the Termini neighborhood. Owned by a friendly family with lots of experience. Very welcoming environment with a cute cafe! They even started their own bagel company during the pandemic - still going strong. Book directly with them for the best prices. I've stayed there twice and will stay there again in April.

Golf's Ryder Cup is that weekend at Marco Simone golf course outside Rome. Expecting 50,000 spectators per day.

Peter, if you haven't yet, search what you can find for your desired location and price range on www.booking.com. Oh, and the previously recommended Beehive gets really good reviews, and offers private rooms for folks who are not into dorm accommodations. They're in a reasonably good location, too. :O)

Peter, I just plugged your dates (Sept 30 - Oct 2; 3 nights) into booking.com and it came up with available properties in a wide range of locations, ratings and prices. Many of them offer a "free cancellation" rate (those pull-the-plug dates might vary) that, while a bit higher than "no refund for cancelling" rates, I'd definitely choose for a trip as far out as yours. Some include free breakfast. In short, you shouldn't have an issue booking a place to hang your hat; jump on whatever fills the bill.

I've used that website for many years and been very happy with it.

I checked the Hotel Villa San Pio where we stayed and they have availability for your dates. This is a lovely hotel in the quiet, leafy area of the Aventine. It’s a 12 minute walk to the Circo Massimo metro stop which will get you to many places in Rome. If you stay there, I would recommend reservations at Perilli’s restaurant. There are beautiful views of Rome from a nearby park, evening vespers at Sant Anselmo church. I love this area of Rome. Peace and quiet away from the noise and hustle and bustle and yet a short metro ride back into the fray.
