What's between Ostuni and Salerno?

We are planning a trip which will take from Naples, around the heel and back, ending in Sorrento. We have a spare 2 days to discover a new place & are wondering what lies in between Ostuni and Salerno, besides Matera. Thoughts?

Hi Toni, look up Polignano a Mare if you would like to be at the water. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to staying at Caserta to go through the huge palace similar to a Versailles size.

Polignano a Mare is a beautiful town set right on the Adriatic Sea. We preferred it to Matera which is inland.

Matera is the best and most obvious choice. If you've already seen Matera or are just looking for a smaller place to stop for lunch, Pietrapertosa is fantastic. Here's our trip in the other direction with our stop in Pietrapertosa:

Other options could be the area between Craco Pisticci and Tursi,

all interesting, but preferred Pietrapertosa which is also well organized to welcome tourists with an info point right at the entrance to the village, just as you're wondering where are on earth you can park! (easy in the end!)
