What Rome looked like in its "Golden Years"

In preparation for a 2015 trip to Italy and Rome I've been trying to find some pictures or other reference materials that have illustrations on what Rome might have looked like in its "Golden Years" . I'm trying to put a face on all the Roman Ruins we see today and to get a idea on how they might have look would give me a better perspective and appreciation of the ruins when I see them in person.

You can buy the book "Rome past and present" either in a bookstore at home or once you get to Rome. They have photos of the sites today with overlays of what they used to look like.

@Roberto - OMG how cool!!!!!!!!!! I have wanted to be able to visualize what the ruins started as for EONS!

Am going to be "wasting" a lot of time on this site. Many thanks!
