JFK Christmas Eve and FCO Christmas Day. What to Expect?

We're trying to arrange an Uber from Nassau County NY to JFK for a flight to Rome 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve and wondering how crowded Delta's Terminal, 4, might be so we can estimate what time to request Uber to arrive there at 4:30 p.m.. Also, any idea about what we can expect with our 9:30 a.m. scheduled arrival at FCO, Rome, Christmas Day (reduced customs officials? crowds?). TIA.

That is not a good time to be traveling in Europe. We have no experience with the airport at that time but would assume that it is functioning but with reduced services and staff. Our experience with Christmas day in Rome is that it is oriented to the Vatican with nearly else is stuff down especially restaurants. Make sure you have a bunch of fruit bars in your luggage. That could be Christmas dinner. Don't be too picky as you may have take what you can find.
