I apologize in advance because it seems like this question must be asked frequently, but I looked around and didn't see a previous thread on it.
We will be there in May, so I assume it shouldn't be too hot - I (a guy) am planning on wearing dark brown leather shoes, dark socks, dark jeans, and long sleeve button down shirts. I have heard that jeans are bad and too close to the typical under dressed american running around in sneakers, jeans, and a t-shirt. I'm not trying to 'blend in' (I am sure the locals will be able to spot a tourist a mile away) but I don't want to offend anyone by being excessively casual. Should I wear khaki slacks instead? We will be doing a lot of walking and some hiking around the cinque terre so they would need to be a bit more rugged than your typical dress khaki slacks.
Anyone have some that they have had good experiences with?
Thanks
