Verona-Osteria il Bertoldo. A lovely room, kind and welcoming owner, great food. You'll have to look it up because I cannot describe where it is. We walked there in 10 minutes from our B&B near the arena.

Venice: LaZucca. Reservations are essential. Call as far in advance as possible. Not terribly expensive, but a treat !

I would probably second La Zucca in Venice. It's got a well deserved reputation. Bit out of the way but worth it.
