Have tried the number I found on this web site and it has NOT worked. Tried it 5 different times. Need to know if I have the correct #. I will be calling from the USA (Delaware). Maybe I am missing a # or have too many. If I can't get through what are the best tour companies to book from an outside vendor. My husband really wants to do this. I saw that some tour companies are alowed an early entrance. Thanks!

See the very recent thread titled "the vatican. I know". It includes the number that has worked for others, and the conclusion that you need to send the fax at a time when the vatican museum office is open. We got our fax through by sending it at 7 AM CDT. The good news is that people seem to be getting responses very quickly.

The correct fax number from the United States is 011 39 06 6988 5100. The staff there are wonderful and are happy to get back to you. The phone number to the office is on the US Embassy to the Holy See's website under "Visiting the Vatican" at www.vatican.usembassy.gov

Thanks for the replies. We gave up today and booked the Viator tour that will pick us up at the hotel at 7 and will start the tour around 8am. They get in ealier then the regular crowds. Hope it lands up being a good experience. My husband will probably walk back to the hotel from there and I will take the bus back. We do have the Nicropolis tour booked for the previous day and will St. Peter's when we are there that day.

Robin we are using viator.com and taking their skip the lines Vatican and Sistene Chappel tour.
We have our confirmation and they pick us up at our hotel at 7am.
