What is the best way to travel from Milan, Italy to St. Moritz, Switzerland

We will be in Milan, Italy the first of July and want to travel from there to St. Moritz to then take the Glacier Express to Zermatt. What is the best way for us to get to St. Moritz from Milan? I know there is a train that eventually goes there but there are several changes. I also know there is bus service. Should we take the train from Milan to Chiavenna, Italy and then take the bus from there?

The best way is to take the Bernina Railway, which is extremely scenic.
Only two steps:
Milano Centrale to Tirano via a 'Trenord' regional train. No reservation needed or even possible.
Tirano to St Moritz via any of the 'RhB' trains on the Bernina Railway, either Bernina Express (reservation needed) or regular regional train.
In Tirano you have to change stations, but it's a mere 100 metre walk.

The train is way better than the bus, which is only once per day and still needs a connection.

Two trains are needed, Milabo Centrale to Tirano, and Tirano to St Moritz.
The Tirano to St Moritz line is the "Bernina Pass route*, which is UNESCO World Heritage scenic, IMHO better than the Glacier Express.

Thank you for your help. We are looking forward to our trip if the coronovirus will loosen its grip on the country.

We were rightfully advised to skip St-Moritz, not attractive, lots of concrete. We stayed nearby in charming Pontresina and highly recommend a stay in this town. We drove Milan to Lake Maggiore to Grindelwald to Pontresina to Lake Como to Milan, a nice loop.

We picked up the Palm Express bus in Lugano for an amazing switchback trip to St. Moritz. We stayed in St. Moritz overnight then picked up the Glacier Express. There is a train from Milan to Lugano.
