What is the best way to go from Sorrento to Venice?

We are trying to get from Sorrento to Venice and understand that we will need to go to Naples first. Is there a train from Sorrento?
What about a Montetti taxi from Sorrento to Naples airport? Has anyone done this?
Is it better to fly "Easyjet or Ryanair" or take a train from Naples to Venice?

Looking for anyones experiences as we have never been before.

Thanks for any advise you can give me.

For about $50, EasyJet or Ryanair to Venice is a bargain. You can take a bus directly from Sorrento to Naples airport: http://www.curreriviaggi.it/eng/autolinee.html. Both airports are small and easy to navigate.

There are also direct trains from Naples to Venice that take 5 hours, but you still have the Circumvesuviana train connection to get to Napoli Centrale station, so no cost or time savings on that leg.

We are doing that trip next month. For our needs, we decided to take the Circumvesuviana to Naples and then the bullet train to Venice. We upgraded to Business Class and it was only 65 Eur per person. This worked best for us.

Be careful about Naples to Venice with Ryanair. Unless they have recently changed (don't think so) they don't fly into Marco Polo but they only fly to Treviso.

Thanks everyone, we are thinking the train for a more direct, and relaxed way to go.

We did Venice to Naples by train last year. Very relaxing, the train blasts along at about 300 km/hour while you enjoy a drink in the bar car. Less stressful than flying.

I had the choice last winter, though I was only going as far as Naples and I chose the train, even though it added about an hour to my door-to-door travel time. I really don't like airports, there's the issue of checking a bag (carry-on limits can be low and strictly enforced), what about liquids if you don't check the bag. Plus it's a bit of a pain to get from the airport to the Island in Venice and can take a pretty long time.
