My husband and I are traveling in the fall and wanted to know what is the best way to go from Venice, Italy to Vienna, Austria.

The fastest train takes about 7.5 hours. Ryanair has a daily flight that is 1.5 hours.
However, the scenery for much of the way from Venice to Vienna is impressive so if you are interested in scenery take the train. If you want to just get there, fly.

Austrian also has frequent daily flights, operated by Air Dolomiti

The OBB Railjet direct Venice to Vienna was very pleasant and no fuss.

We took the train from Vienna to Venice in the late summer of 2024. Very relaxing and comfortable. We brought our own food. We had 8 days in Copenhagen and Vienna, and then a planned week in Venice.
The train was a nice break with lovely scenery. We're glad we decided on the train.
