What is the best transportation to Rome Pantheon area from FCO airport

We will be arriving in Rome around 9PM on our 1st trip to Italy later this week. We are staying at an appartment near the Pantheon. Does anyone have suggestions regarding transportation from the airport to our appartment? Should we get a driver or limo service vs taking the train from the airport? If a private service is the best option, does anyone have a name, number and idea of cost for 4 people?

Try to do what I did. Google search for shuttle service.
Found several sites. Emailed, got a good deal. Went last year and for less than a taxi, got a personal driver to take us directly to our hotel and arranged for them to pick us up and take us back after our trip.

The driver was waiting for us with our name on a sign. Didn't have to hassle with taxi line.

Don't remember the name of the shuttle service, but like I said, just google. they will have rates listed for the service. Find the one you like, email them to confirm.

You don't need to pay until you get there...don't pay over the internet, or fax for safety. We got Euro at the airport at an ATM and were ready to pay the driver.

Ellen's suggestion is best especially at that time of night. BUT make the taxi/shuttle understands it is four people AND luggage because four people and luggage beyond carryon will not fit in a standard taxi.

Took a Taxi from Piazza Navona to the airport last year and for the three of us it was 40 Euros.

Thanks to all who responded! The google option yielded several options of shuttles for us to choose from!

I found Rome Shuttle Limousine to be the least expensive, at least for our situation: 5 people, with 5 checked bags and 5 daypacks. And, the service was great. We paid 50 Euros.

On our previous visits to Rome we found that our apartment rental agency or our B&B made us an offer of transportation, and both times the price was very good. Plus, if the rental agency arranges for your transportation they are responsible to get you to the front door instead of dropping you on an unfamiliar street and telling you to find the place on your own. The latter option is definitely not a fun thing to be doing in historic Rome at 10:00 pm!

On our most recent visit to Rome we stayed at Residenza Navona First, and their offer of transport was less than the Leonardo Express train which only delivers you to Termini. Our driver delivered us to the front door of the Residenza.
