What is open on holidays?

We will arrive in Rome on May 1 which is a holiday. Will the Tourist Information kiosks and the banks be open in the airport and the Termini. We want to pick up our Roma Pass there if they are open on a holiday.

The banks will be open but ATMs & many currency exchanges will still be open. Information kiosks will be open. The only sight closed will be the Vatican Museum but St Peter's Basilica will be open.

May Day, May 1, is a public holiday all over Italy as the "Day of the Worker," (Labor Day to us). Many services, banks, etc. will be closed. Some shops will be closed and the busses, trains, trams, and metro run on holiday or "festival" schedules.

The Tourist Info kiosks should be open. You can "pre-buy" the Roma pass on line. It's "activated" for 3 days after the first time you use it. The website also lists other locations you can purchase a Roma Pass - Here's the link:

According to this, you can get the pass in Terminal C at FCO - or outside Termini in Piazza dei Cinquecento. If you do not purchase online, I would go for either of those locations as they cater to toursits more and should be open.

There is a HUGE FREE concert at San Giovanni that day (2 PM - 11 PM) attendance can top 750,000 people! They usually have about 40 headliners...
